Through each of these modules, we have discussed the energy center associated, the Sacred Directions, the Animal Archetypes, and we have collected stones that have assisted in our anchoring. Now we will create a MESA. Mesa means table, but in this application it is actually a living, mobile altar. It is a medicine bundle that is created by you and for you.

To create your mesa you will need:

  1. A beautiful piece of cloth, thicker than a silk scarf, square shaped, and about the size of a handkerchief.

  2. Your medicine stones

  3. Small special items that have significant meaning for you. Representations of animal archetypes you work with, a charm that gives you joy, symbolic objects, pendulum, Palo Santo, etc.

  4. A woven tie, string, rope or cord to tie it all together.

In the video below I share my Mesa with you. You will see how this Mesa can act as a microcosm of you, a way to nurture yourself, celebrate, heal, dream, create, call in, transform, and anchor. My Mesa has been through several transformations since I have stepped into the path. What I have found and what I am sharing with you, is that we all make and carry OUR OWN medicine.

Below is the opening prayer, or morning prayer that my teacher taught to me from her teacher and the teachers that came before him. When I first learned this prayer, I spoke it as precisely to my teachers words as possible. I felt her support as I used her words and it helped me to feel connected to the lineage that I was so honored to be learning from. As I grew deeper relationship with the energies, the directions, the animals, my intentions, and the purpose of the prayer, I begin to make it my own. The version I have shared below is the same one my teacher taught me, though today, my personal version is sometimes silent, sometimes for healing, creating, seeing, protecting, guiding, or whatever else I am feeling. Like the mesa, this prayer is one that you make your own. As HUMANS we have more power than we allow ourselves to know. The Mesa and the opening prayer help to create the opportunities and perceptions that give permission to ourselves to become aware of our power and actually use it to serve our lives and the Earth.
